Our Guide to Gertrude Street

We love how Gertrude Street lets us make a day of it, connecting art and design, retail and hospitality in such a tight space. We walk from Pickings and Parry to the Builders, some new clothes in hand and a cold beer in the other, before heading over to see the latest show at Oigall Projects or At the Above to ponder artists’ intentions and (sometimes) the meaning of life. But as everyone knows, art criticism, constructive or otherwise, is thirsty work and unpacking the meaning of abstract expressionism brings with it its own dramas. We suggest a vermouth over ice or a glass of Champagne to maintain the balance.
