Join us on Tuesday 13th October as we welcome Adam Foster winemaker and founder of Syrahmi, one of Heathcote's most distinctive producers.
A chef-turned-sommelier-turned-winemaker, Adam has built a strong identity for himself and his winery. He spent years cooking in some of Victoria's and London's best kitchens before hanging up his chef's jacket to pursue his dream of winemaking. Along the way, he worked vintages alongside some of the most respected Rhône producers, including Chapoutier, Stéphane Ogier and Pierre Gaillard.
In 2004, he founded Syrahmi. The name blends "Syrah", the French name for Shiraz, with "ami", French for friend. It can be read as "a friendly Shiraz" or "a friend of Shiraz", and it's a nod to the French winemaking that shaped him.
Today, Adam makes Rhône-inspired Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre. His approach is simple – intervene as little as possible, trust Mother Nature, and let each vineyard and vintage speak for itself.
